Elaine Jenkins passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Hamlin, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Elaine Jenkins was born December 7,1950 in Artesia, New Mexico to David Hart Sanders and Wynnona (Deel) Sanders. Her sister Davey Sue (Sanders) Stewart was 11 months older than her. Elaine attended Hamlin schools for a time and graduated from Cooper High School in 1969. She married the love of her life, Charles Jenkins in April 1974. Elaine had several jobs including school cafeteria, Franks TV and Wainsco. Elaine’s house is where all the kids hung out even though she was known to put them all to work and give em a bustin right along with her own kids. Elaine’s whistle was heard for blocks and even though she was whistling for her own kids, it was not unusual for a few extras to show up. Her greatest joy was having her kitchen full of her son’s hungry friends and especially feeding the entire defensive “Hawg Line” every Thursday before they hit the field for Friday night lights. She had many hobbies including playing guitar, crocheting, working puzzles, whittling/word working and trying new recipes. Elaine loved Charlie and Jennifer but they were quickly pushed to the side upon arrival of the real loves….. the grandkids. Elaine was an avid animal lover and always had at least one dog as her favorite companion. Elaine was a member of the Church of Christ and was steadfast in her faith. She left this world peacefully leaving a void in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents David and Wynona Sanders, her sister Sue Stewart and her husband Charles Jenkins.
Survivors include daughter Jennifer Jenkins Cooper (Terry), son Charlie Jenkins Jr (Brandi), special niece and nephew Misty Raines (George), and Jerry Ash (Margarita), six grandchildren, Colton Jenkins (Ruth), Bailee Jenkins, JoLana Calhoun (Taylor), Karyn Hanson (Slaton), Keith Cooper (Katie), and Kylan Cooper (Felipe). Six Great-grandchildren include Kash, Kaci, Kirk, Koy, Ellie, and Dallie Jo.
