Barbara Stroud Evans of Hamlin, Texas was called home to the Lord on Saturday, September 28th, 2024.
She was born December 7,1954 in Odessa, Texas to Robert (Bob) Stroud and Georgie Mae Yell. She was raised outside of Roscoe, Texas by her stepdad (Daddy) Barnett Pieper and her mom. She lived on the farm with her brother John and sister Dale. She even bragged of driving a tractor one summer (day)! Barb graduated from Roscoe High School, attended South Plains College, then went on to graduate from the Abilene Court Reporting School. She worked as a court reporter for several years in Abilene, marking many trials. During this time, she met Steve Evans from Hamlin. He swept her off her feet and showed her the city lights. They married August 9th, 1986. She worked for the Whitten Law firm for several years and at the Jones County District Attorney’s office. She loved her place as the Victim Rights Advocate. Before her retirement Barbara ran her husband’s insurance agency. Barb made her personal touch everywhere she worked.
Diva doesn’t even describe this wonderful wife, mother and friend. Everyone loved her that met her. Their son Adam was the high point in life. Barbara was a devoted mother making sure her son had the best in raising which included the purse with anything you could ever need! She loved planning and hosting parties and scavenger hunts at her family's lake house, where you would hear tunes of Steve Miller, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Rod Stewart and her singing Janis Joplin's, "Take Another Piece of My Heart," at the top of her lungs. When she wasn't doing that, she was either at the golf course riding around with her husband and son, or she was swimming and sunbathing with her friends and family. On most Saturday mornings, you'd find her watching turner classics and "I Love Lucy" re-runs while cleaning the house. In the evenings you'd find her indulging in a good book and a glass of chillable red. She was not one to shy away from a cute shoe sale or anything cute for that matter, for the fashion diva she was, shopping with her would turn a simple trip to Target into a "fancy" Targé trip. Cute, sassy, wholesome and a ball of joy.
She was Preceded in death by her father Bob Stroud, stepfather Barnett Pieper, her mother Georgia Mae Borders, brothers Stanley Pieper and Terry Pieper. She is survived by her husband Steve Evans, her son Adam Evans, brothers Don Jones (Eva) and John Pieper (Nancy) sister Dale Metcalf (Jeff). Grandchildren Natalie, Adalynn and Hannah. Many nieces and nephews and others that loved her dearly.
