Born February 24, 1926, in Coryell County, Bo was a son of the late William S. and Sophia Catherine Blanchard Newland. He received two Purple Hearts by serving our nation as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during both WWII and Korean Wars. Bo married the love of his life Patsy Pat Fletcher February 14, 1948, in Hamlin. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company for 25 years before retiring.
Bo was an avid softball player in his younger years. He enjoyed gardening, riding around in the country and fishing. Bo was a great fisherman and always enjoyed not only catching them, but frying them too. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a Christian.
Bo is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Tucker and Charles Newland, and one sister Elva Jean Dink Hall.
Survivors include his wife of sixtyfive years, Pasty Newland of Hamlin one son and daughterinlaw, Milbourne Stick and Debra Newland of Colorado Springs, CO one daughter and soninlaw, Vicki and Charles Fritsch of Austin three grandchildren, Will Fritsch and wife Angela, Andrew Newland, and Robert Newland brothersinlaw, Joe Hall, Robert Fletcher, Lane Fletcher and wife Beth, and Marcus Fletcher one sister Billy Catherine Fininis and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
