Bobby Neal Wilson died unexpectedly on Sept. 20, 2021, at the age of 66 in Des Moines Iowa. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Bobby Neal Wilson was born on April 18, 1955, to his parents Lon Junior and Lillian Lorene Wilson in Kermit Texas. Bobby honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He specialized as a military working dog handler in Security Forces and personally trained assigned dogs in law enforcement and combat tactics, including how to detect drugs and explosives. That training and dedication would carry over to his career in Law Enforcement, first with the Sheriff’s department in Big Lake Texas and then as a Police Officer in Hamlin Texas for over 20 years. Bob became a prominent member of the small-town community of Hamlin as he dedicate his time and efforts to many causes. He was a proud member of the Texas Narcotics Officers Association, the Hamlin Volunteer Fire department, and Hamlin VFW Post 6014. After retirement, from Hamlin Police Department Bob moved to Des Moines Iowa and worked part time for CSC Security.
During retirement Bob enjoyed talking with friends, gardening, and loved watching the hummingbirds in his back yard with his German shepherds Fitz & Sammie. Bob got the most enjoyment out of spending time and talking with his family, as his children and grandchildren both near and far were his pride and joy. Bob was known for his humor, something that never went away with time. He may not have ever figured out how to set up his voicemail on his cellphone but could hardly contain his excitement when he finally learned how to place a video call and send a text message. He was quick to tell a “DAD” joke, add a punchline, or do or say something silly just to make you laugh. He leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, character, integrity, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lon Junior and Lorene Wilson, brother Sonny Wilson, brother-in-law Phillip Johnston, and brother in law Jay Evans.
Bobby is survived by his wife; Judi Michael-Wilson of Des Moines, children; Christina Wilson of Jennings Oklahoma, Bobbie Ann and husband Grady Hallum of Houston, Christopher Wilson of Abilene, Brooke Michael of Des Moines and Brittany Michael of Des Moines, Grandchildren; Micheal, Tina, Bailey, Bryce, Kailey, and Kaiden, sisters; Lillian (Joe) Crawford, Sandra(Jimmy) Payne, Ruth Ellen Johnston, Mary (Rod) Dodd, Sister in law Candy Wilson, and bother in law Jerry (Lola) Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
