Charles Edwin Helms, 80, of Hamlin, Texas passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018 in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Charles was born February 22, 1938 in Hamlin to Homer and Helen Helms. He joined the Army October 27, 1960 and served three years. He was a mechanic and owned and operated Helms Garage and Wrecking in Hamlin. He enjoyed racing cars, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Helen Helms; two sisters, Billie Lewis and Elizabeth Deel; one grandson, Randall Scott Kelly.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Punkin Helms; five sons, Jessse (Michelle) Helms of Valley View, Texas, Jimmy Wainscott (Lisa) of Hamlin, Charles (Heather) White of Portsmouth, Virginia, John (Nova) Weaver of Hamlin, Teddy Weaver of Hamlin; five daughters, Belinda Weaver of Abilene, Tonya Hays of Abilene, Diane Weaver of Trent, Mandy Koblizek (Noah) of Hamlin , and Cheryl Weaver of Hamlin; eighteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Kay of Marlin, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
