HAMLIN CHARLES STANLEY LEDBETTER, 86, passed away March 28, 2014, in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 12, 2014, at the Hamlin Church of the Nazarene, ed by AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.
Charles was a son of the late Claude Stanlin and Lovie Grey Ledbetter. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. Charles married the love of his life Cathy Iona Eastman April 10, 1950, in Cimarron, Kansas. They lived in various places before moving to Hamlin in 1971. He drove a moving truck for many years. Charles worked at Pied Piper Mills, and Byrd Power Tong as a maintenance supervisor until his retirement in the early 1990s. He was a long standing member of the Nazarene Church where he served as a board member and usher. One of his loves was fishing, reading the bible, drinking coffee and watching John Wayne movies.
Charles is preceded in death by two sons James Dean Ledbetter and Kenneth Wayne Ledbetter and one granddaughter Crystal Renee True.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Iona Ledbetter: three sons and daughtersinlaw, Charles Ray and Deborah Ledbetter of Gahanna, OH, Merle Stanley and Joy Ledbetter of Kansas City, KS, and Claude Stanley and Rhonda Ledbbetter of Pauls Valley, OK two daughters, Anita Marie Cooper of Hamlin and Katherine Ann True of Kansas City, MO two brothers, Ray Ledbetter and Stanley Ledbetter two sisters, Jewel Goode and Ann Lee Delong nineteen grandchildren and twentytwo greatgrandchildren.
We would like to extend the warmest of thanks for all of their support and care to the staff at Coronado Nursing Center, and Hospice of the Big County.
