Deeanna Kay Woods

Deeanna Kay Woods, born on December 14, 1953, in Kermit, Texas, passed away on February 27, 2025. She is remembered for her fun-loving and outgoing personality, and for the deep care she had for her family and friends.

Deeanna graduated from Nimitz High School in 1973 and continued her education at Debonair Beauty School, completing her studies in 1974. She married Johnnie Woods in 1985, and together they built a loving family. Deeanna moved to Hamlin in 1978, where she began her career. Over the years, she worked at the Hamlin Memorial Hospital for two years, followed by a 15-year tenure at Mayo Insurance, and then spent four years at the Hamlin Housing Authority. She recently moved to Colorado to spend time with her grandson, Achyllies.

In addition to her career, Deeanna was a member of the North Central Baptist Church. Her favorite pastime was going gambling with her husband, Johnnie. She enjoyed spending time with her eight special friends: Patricia Barnett, Dede Scifres, Debbie Vahlenkamp, Linda Diggs, Eileen Goodgame, Misty Miller, Tara Fillingim , Barbara Evans (deceased).

Deeanna is survived by her loving husband, Johnnie Woods; her son, Jimmy McNiel; her son, Robert McNiel and his wife Betty; her step-sons, Johnny G. Woods and his wife Kathy, and Joe D. Woods and his wife,  Amanda. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cheyanna McNiel, Trevor McNiel, Chloe McNiel, Achyllies McNiel, Jhera Woods, Faith Woods, Colton Woods, and Kendall Woods. Deeanna is also survived by her brother, Ronnie Bentley and his wife Flo, her sister-in-law, Annie Henderson and her husband Billy, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Deeanna was predeceased by her parents, Wilene Price and Bryan Moore; one brother, James Bentley; one brother-in-law, James Woods; one niece, Jamie Woods; and one nephew, James Allan Bentley.

A memorial service will take place on March 13, 2025, at McCaulley Cemetery in McCaulley, Texas, starting at 1:00 PM.
