Devon Van Zandt

April 4, 2004 — January 7, 2023

Devon Elijah Van Zandt went home to be with our heavenly father January 7th, 2023. Devon was born April 4th, 2004, in Abilene, Texas to Regina Van Zandt Carter.

Devon attended grade school at Hamlin Elementary, before moving to Stamford, TX and attending school there. Devon was in the class of 2022 but graduated a year early in 2021. Devon loved animals, especially cats, and would take in any that he felt needed care. His favorite colors were green, blue, and orange. Devon was compassionate, caring, and exceptionally intelligent.  He loved to draw and was an amazing artist.  He enjoyed music and working on computers. Devon was a soft-spoken young man who loved his family very much.

Upon graduation, Devon lived in Dallas for a year with his aunt “Vilv” (Vivian Van Zandt), whom he had a very special connection with. He then moved to Hamlin with his GiGi (Gina Van Zandt), where he was entering the work force and was deciding on future plans. Devon hoped to eventually have a career as an artist or computer programmer. He had a smile that could light up a room and was the light of his family’s life.

Devon was preceded in death by his B-Daddy (Ike Van Zandt); great-grandmother Katherine Spark; great-grandmother and best friend Janie Marshall; and Aunt Brenda Marshall.

Survivors include his mother and father, Regina and Billy Carter; brothers Camden and Miles Carter; and sister Skylar Carter. His heart, Gigi (Gina Van Zandt). Two aunts, Katheron McGee Williams and Vivian Van Zandt; special great aunt Olivia Titus; along with a host of great aunts, uncles, several cousins, and close friends.
