Edith Cater, 87, passed away July 26, 2018 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Monday July 30, 2018, at the Hamlin First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 3pm - 5pm, Sunday, July 29th, 2018 at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery in Hamlin, TX.
Edith Ann (Scott) Carter was born July 29, 1930, in Hamlin. Edith was the daughter of K.T. and Jewell (Watson) Scott. She was a longtime resident of Hamlin, Edith taught school for 26 years in Hamlin ISD as a Home Economics Teacher. She was a member of the Lambda Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (where she served as President for two years), Hamlin Woman's Literary Club and the Abilene Woman's Club. Edith was also a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as a longtime nursery worker.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Joe Wayne Carter.
Edith is survived by her only adopted son, Joe Bob Carter of Seaside, Oregon; her grandsons, Cameron Wayne Carter of Seaside, Oregon and Mathew Taylor Carter of San Marcos, TX; and their # 1 daughter-in-law, as far as Edith and Joe were concerned, Bunny Keeney of Bangs, TX.
