Elizabeth was born on March 1, 1941, in Hamlin, TX to Homer and Helen Helms. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Growing up she lived and went to school in Cisco and Hamlin, TX. On July 14, 1957, she married J.D. Shelton; they were happily married for 35 years and had 2 children. J.D. passed away in August 1992. She later married Billy Deel. During her life she held several jobs but her passion was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She also loved to help Billy remodel homes and work on the farm. Elizabeth was a member of the Foursquare Church and was baptized when she was 11 years old in Cisco, TX. She loved singing Christian music, rock hunting, and collecting marbles. She also enjoyed camping and fishing on the river with her family. She loved to cook, sing, dance, and do wood burning.
Elizabeth loved butterflies, angels, and crosses. Her favorite quote was "I love you and love you tomorrow." She was a firm believer of family values and always believed in caring for family and others.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Shelton; her parents, Homer and Helen Helms; her sister, Billie Helms Lewis; 2 sets of twins that passed away at birth and a son, Homer James Shelton.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Billy Deel; daughters, Tammie Griffith and husband Steve of Hamlin, TX, Missy Offield and husband Mark of Hobbs, TX, Angela Bryce and husband James of Clyde, TX; a son, Tommy Deel and wife Katherine of Granbury; a sister, Evelyn Kay of Marlin, TX; a brother, Charles Helms of Hamlin, TX; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many friends.
