Ellen Combs

Ellen Joyce Combs, 85 of Hamlin passed away on December 28, 2022 in Vernon, Texas. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, January 9, 2023 at the Church of Christ in Hamlin, Texas with burial to follow in the Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on May 8, 1937 to John Cullen and Mary Ellen (Capps) Thomas in Longview, Texas. She graduated from Watervalley High School in 1955 and attended San Angelo Business College. Joyce married the love of her life, Ronald Combs on March 30, 1956. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Joyce enjoyed traveling and searching for arrowheads. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially those sweet grandchildren that called her “Meme”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Martha Joan Thomas Burnen.

Joyce is survived by her son, Robert Mark (Lori) Combs; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
