Eva Lea "Polly" Maberry left precious memories as she departed this world for her mansion on the hilltop Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She very peacefully passed in her home of over 55 years while Lori and Brittany held her hand. Using her last earthly breath she managed to softly say the name of her rock and very best friend, "Lori."
Polly, as she was affectionately called, was born April 2, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Franklin Eugene Holden, Sr and Gladys Knox Holden. On April 9, 1949 she married the love of her life, J.P. "Smokey" Maberry. They were married until Smokey's passing January 7, 1989.
She loved with a heart as big as Texas. Always there for family and willing to help anyone without expecting a thing in return, she was a true example of a Godly woman. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was always telling others about the goodness of God the many blessing He had bestowed upon her. Polly was also an avid cook and baker and had a particular fondness for listening to hymns and gospel music. She leaves behind a legacy of loving God and living faithfully. The cross truly was her family tree. She spent the last several years of her life with her beloved, "sweet angel", Lori.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Davis, brothers Bill, J.C., Junior, Willis, W.D. and Ronnie Holden and grandson in law James Burleson. Also two special companions, her pugs Samson and Delilah.
She is survived by her son, Wesley (Shay) Maberry, Granddaughter Lori (Britt) Cary and Angela Burleson. Great grandchildren Brittany (Andrew) Harrison, Alicia (Clinton) Beck and Brody (Darline) Combs. Great, great grandchildren Mayson, Jace, Cooper, Cullen, Adeline and Brian.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Sylvester Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sylvester Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
We would like to thank Hendrick Hospice, Mrs. Smith and Encompass Home Health and special friend, Missy Thompson.
We love you, Grandma, with all of our heart and we know that ol' gate swings both ways. Through our salvation in Jesus Christ we know this isnt "goodbye" but rather "see ya soon."
