Born August 18, 1928, in Ada, Oklahoma, Gene was the son of Eugene L. and Autrey Rodgers Walton. He married the love of his life, Anita Thomas, on September 24, 1949, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. The couple moved from Odessa to Aspermont in 1952, then to Hamlin in 1957, where Gene owned and operated Walton Well Service. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed painting, reading, and playing the guitar. He was an avid square dancer, and was a longtime member of the Calico Kickers Square Dance Club. Gene was also a big fan of the Hamlin Pied Pipers Basketball Team.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Autrey Walton his daughter, Gayla Rose Walton two brothers, Walter Walton Elvarita and Carter Walton Wanda two sisters, Thelma Tallent Floyd and Lois Parkhill Lonne and several nieces and nephews.
Gene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anita Walton two daughters, Cheryl Carpenter and husband, Mark, of Lubbock, and Crystal Hodona and husband, Bob, of Lubbock two grandchildren, Aaron Carpenter and wife, Stacey, and Lauren Oles and husband, Ryan and two greatgrandchildren, Dylan and Samuel Carpenter.
