Born June 17, 1942, in Skidmore, Texas, Gloria was the daughter of Refugio and Tomasa Garza Villanueva. She spent her childhood in the Gulf Coast region, first in Skidmore, then moving to Robstown. At the age of 18, she moved to Hamlin, where she met the love of her life, Pete Munoz. They were married on October 7, 1967, in Hamlin. The couple moved to Abilene, where Gloria worked as a grocery store baker, then as a member of the laundry staff at the Hendrick Home for Children. In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed gardening, flowers, dancing, and sewing. She was the family party planner, and an excellent cook. Gloria was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, a nephew, and a niece.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Peter Munoz, Sr., of Abilene two sons and a daughterinlaw, Pete Munoz, Jr., of Abilene, and Andrew Munoz and wife, Elizabeth, of McAllen two daughters, Andrea Munoz of Abilene, and Amy Vasquez of Abilene four brothers and two sistersinlaw, Robert Villanueva and wife, Sandy, of Hamlin, Ruben Villanueva of Stamford, Frank Villanueva of Hamlin, and Julio Villanueva and wife Sandra of Stamford two sisters, Delia Villanueva of Abilene, and Maria Chavez of Hamlin five grandchildren, Lori and Joshua Vasquez of Abilene, Morgan Munoz of Haskell, and Anahi and Sofie Munoz of McAllen and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
