Irasema Montanez passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in her home in Hamlin, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Hamlin, followed by burial in the Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. A rosary will be held Monday, October 14, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM at the Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlin, Texas.
Irasema was born on June 5, 1958, in Edinburg, Texas, to Adolfo and Maria Simona (Garcia) Guerra and moved to Hamlin around the age of four. She married Manuel Montanez in Anson on August 10,1982. A strong Christian woman, Irasema never gave up her fight for her health after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. On a beautiful sunny day, you would find her wearing a big sun hat and gloves, happily working in her garden. She loved tending to her yard and always kept it tidy. Irasema also enjoyed making memories with her children and grandchildren.
Music was a big part of her life; she was often singing and dancing, filling the space around her with joy. She was not shy or timid. Those who knew her would describe her as funny, kind, and passionate, always willing to stand up for what was right. Her loss will be tremendously felt by her family and friends, including her surviving sisters, brothers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irasema was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adolfo and Maria Simona Guerra, brothers Rogelio Guerra and George Guerra.
Irasema is survived by her husband; Manuel Montanez; son Jeremy Rangel and daughter in law Rose Rangel; daughter Angie (Rangel) Alvarez and son in law Sammy Alvarez Jr.; son Mark Montanez; daughter Ruby (Montanez) Jimenez and son in law Jessie Jimenez; son Manuel Angel Montanez; son Michael Montanez and daughter in law Alaisha Montanez. Irasema has been blessed with twenty-three grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
