James Mark Young passed from this life on January 4, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 57. Mark was born on February 25, 1963 as the firstborn son to Donald and Patti Young in Hamlin, Texas. He graduated valedictorian of the Hamlin High School class in 1981. In 1984, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Angelo State University and began a career in the insurance business. He worked as a coordinator and CICU for several agencies over his 35 year career. In 2019, Colonial Life named him Coordinator of the Year. Most recently he cofounded Corridor BP and was active in the development of this new venture.
Mark served as a Stephen’s Minister at University Methodist Church in San Antonio where he provided grief counseling to hurting families for the past 14 years. He was also known to teach his mother’s Sunday School class in Hamlin on his weekend visits.
Mark loved Southern Gospel music, the Dallas Cowboys and his mother’s enchiladas. He treasured the time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Donald Young. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Ann Young, his mother, Patricia Ann Young, his brother, Greg Young and his sister-in-law, Beth Young. His nephew, Matt Young, and his niece, Kayla Crockett will forever remember him as World Famous Uncle Mark (WFUM).
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 8th at 2pm at the First Nazarene Church in Hamlin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Nazarene Church.
