JoAnn "adopted" many of the young men she came into contact with and still receives cards and letters from many of them to this day. She never missed sending her children and grandchildren cards for every occasion from Valentine's Day to Birthdays to Christmas even when they were grown. She loved peanut butter crackers and Sonic cokes and rarely traveled anywhere without them. She loved to travel and often traveled with her cousin Eva June Logan and her husband Carl Logan who preceded her in death.
