HAMLIN MAMIE JEWELL ROUNTREE, 97, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, in North Richland Hills. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. ation will be 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013, at AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.
Born December 23, 1915, in McCaulley, Mamie was a daughter of late James Franklin J.F. and Millie Britt Drennan. She graduated from McCaulley High School, attended North Texas University and then beautician school in Abilene. Mamie worked as a beautician in Brownfield where she married Jeff Delbert Rountree on May 20, 1948 before moving to Hamlin. She was a homemaker and mother while raising their children and then worked in the cafeteria for the Hamlin school district. Mamie was very witted and was always delightful to be around. She enjoyed working in her yard, whether it was hoeing weeds or planting flowers and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mamie is preceded in death by her husband in 1982, parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
Mamie is survived by her daughter and soninlaw, Debbie and Wiley Payne of Portland, Texas son and daughterinlaw, Mike and Pam Rountree of Watauga, Texas seven grandchildren, Jeff Martindale, Melinda Lawver, Amanda Scott, John Mark Rountree, Andrea Rountree, Jeremy Rountree, and Lauren Rountree. Thirteen greatgrandchildren and her sister, Malinda Williams of Lubbock.
