Melba Spalding

Melba Rose (Searcy) Spalding entered into rest on December 5, 2017, in Hamlin, Texas. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017. There will be a visitation Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home in Hamlin, Texas.
Melba was born February 2, 1957 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Shirley Searcy. She married Ted Spalding December 14, 1979 in Blanchard, Oklahoma.
Melba was a great wife, mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, and much more. After her mother died, she played a big part as the glue to our family, along with others, planning our family reunions every year, hosting Christmas at her house with our enormous family. She cared for us all at one point or another, just as her mother did. Melba was a homemaker, a hard worker and could keep up with the best.
Survivors include her husband, Ted Spalding, of 37 years, 11 months, 10 days; son, Ryan Spalding and wife, Shandi of Eunice, New Mexico; daughter, Christina Lee and husband, Todd of Hobbs, New Mexico; and daughter, Amanda Spalding of Hobbs, New Mexico; grandchildren, Timothy, Titus, Daniel, Isaiah, Malichi, and Elias Spalding, and Jayce and Bethany Lee; brothers, Kenny Searcy and wife, Karen, Danny Searcy, Randy Searcy, and Kevin Searcy; sisters, Tammy Mize and her husband, Darren, Becky Clounch and husband, Kevin, Brenda Auld and husband, Derwin; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
