Petra Benavides Robles was born June 29, 1931, to Maria Anaya and Catarino Benavides in Bluntzer, Texas. Petra married Julio Robles on November 29, 1961. She was a cook for the Mathis ISD Cafeteria for many years retiring in 1982. After retiring, she moved to Hamlin where she worked as a seamstress for many years. Petra loved to play Bingo, read, sew, quilt, bake, and put puzzles together with her grandchildren. Her favorite things included baking her peanut butter cookies for her grandkids, nephews and nieces, and going to Johnnie’s Game Room.
Petra is preceded in death by her husband and parents; brothers Santana Valdez, Domingo, Guillermo, Eugenio, and Sabastian Benavides; and her, sister Felipa Garcia.
She is survived by her sons, Raul Robles of Abilene and Roel (Crissy) Robles-Mathis; her daughter, Rhoda Gonzalez (John) of Hamlin; her sister, Herminia Benavides; Grandchildren, Noel, Tricia, Stephanie and Mikel Robles, Anthony and Marissa Gonzalez, Christopher ViaFranco, Elena and Sonia Robles; eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and nieces.
