Born November 8, 1957, Rickey was the son of Carl David and Mary Pauline (Mayfield) Bond. Growing up, he attended school in Hamlin and McCaullley. Rickey married the love of his life, Jana Lynn Jeffrey, on April 15, 1977, in Hamlin. He worked as an oil field tech for many years. A friend to many people, Ricky was a hard worker, and a jack-of-all-trades. An avid outdoorsman, Rickey enjoyed hunting, fishing, and target shooting. In his spare time, he loved to watch crime and nature shows on TV. Rickey and Jana lived on a farm twelve miles south of Hamlin, that Rickey affectionately called "The Ranch," where Rickey loved to gather his friends and family for BBQing. Above all, Rickey was a family man, who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Rickey is preceded in death by his parents, C.D. "Corkey" and Mary Bond; his grandparents, Pete and Mavis Bond; and his uncle, Skipper Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jana Bond; three sons, Judd Bond of McCaulley, Carl Bond of McCaulley, and David Bond of Abilene; one daughter, Kristi Smith and husband, Joe, of McCaulley; one brother, Nick Bond of Houston; one sister, Gina Vargas and husband, Gonzalo, of Sugarland; two grandchildren, Saylor and Avery, with a granddaughter on the way; and numerous beloved friends.
