Robert Cox, 72, of Hamlin, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Hamlin after a short battle with brain cancer. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Hamlin Church of Christ. Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lee Cox was born November 27, 1944 in Pennington Gap, VA, to Hubert and Jean (Meade) Cox. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and faithfully served his country until 1962. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Elaine Klein, on March 18, 1967, in West Chicago, IL. Robert and Kathy brought their family to Hamlin in 1982. He was a faithful member of the Hamlin Church of Christ. Robert was a very hard working man and was skilled in many different things. He was a gifted mechanic and a talented wood worker; he enjoyed selling his wood crafts at various craft shows. Robert's family describes him as a very loving person who would do anything he could to help anyone in need; that is his legacy. Robert was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him and loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Jean Cox; and his sister, Jane Busby.
Robert is survived by the love of his life, Kathy Cox; his two daughters, Cindy Watson and husband Buddy of Jayton, TX and Jeannie Tomlinson and husband Mike of Mineola, TX; his twin brother, Ron Cox and wife Mary Faye, of Elizabethtown, KY; two brothers, David Cox and wife Sue of Kingsport, TN and John Cox and wife Nancy of Bowie, MD; seven grandchildren, Josh Watson, Jayme Tomlinson, Garrett Watson, Jacob Tomlinson and wife Libby, Caleb Tomlinson, Erin Tomlinson, and Katelyn Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hendricks Hospice of Abilene and the Hamlin Church of Chirst.
