Robert L. Goodgame, Jr., 83, passed away Friday July 29, 2016 surrounded by his family. A celebration of life will be held 2: 00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at the First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born March 13, 1933, in Fisher County, Robert was the son of the late Robert L, Sr. and Stella (Wallace) Goodgame. At the age of seventeen months Roberts's mother passed away and he was raised by Ethel Payne. Robert graduated from Hamlin High School and attended college at Texas Tech University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He married Louise Lakey in Anson on November 3, 1967. Robert was a lifetime farmer and rancher. He enjoyed going to the coast and watching the ships, going to the lake, setting outside feeding his perch. Robert had no greater love than for his family and made sure he passed on his family values. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamlin.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Paul, John Ed, and James) two sisters (Marguerite and Marlene) and one son, (Ronnie), two great-grandsons (James Micheal Scogin and Wyatt Tristan Baize) and all-time favorite dog (Bear).
Survivors include his wife, Louise Goodgame, four children, Lisa Burgess (Justin), Rickey Goodgame (Jacque), Eileen Goodgame, and Lesa Davis; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; two cats, Beau, Quigley; and one dog, Patches.
