There will be a family visitation on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Roberto was born on November 6, 1948 to Evaristo and Maria Ibarra in Edinburg, Texas. Reflecting on his childhood, he enjoyed going to church with his mother and his brothers. In his teenage years he started working as a migrant worker traveling throughout the United States and Mexico. After some time he went to live with his sister and father in Reynosa, where he met the love of his life, Evangelina. They married on June 5, 1978 in Hidalgo, Texas and soon after they moved to Hamlin where they started their family and had four children. Alongside his brother Alfredo, they worked for John Kent and Tommie Nell Jones farming for many years. In the early nineties he began working at Pied Piper Mills until he retired. Roberto was a faithful servant of God. No matter where he was or who he met, he always spread the word of God or as he put it, he planted the seed. He was a very kindhearted man who never hesitated to help someone in need. He was a deacon at his belove church, Primera Iglesia Bautista where he spent many hours keeping up with the maintenance. On Sundays, you could always find him worshiping the Lord with his brothers in Christ.
Roberto loved spending time with his family, and his grandbabies. They will forever remember “Welos” heavy foot (drifting as they called it).
Roberto is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ramona Rios, Josefa Villarreal, Maunel Ybarra, Jose Ybarra, Andrea Ibarra, and Alfredo Ybarra.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Evangelina Ibarra; brother, Lasaro (Dominga) Ybarra; son, Benny (Mindy) Ybarra; daughters, Mariela (Ramiro) Flores, Elizabeth (Ringo) Amador and, Noemi (Jose) Hernandez; grandchildren, Raul Rivera III, Rosa (Stephon) Rivera, Ringo (Destiny) Amador, Robert T. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
