RONNIE DELMER HILL, 73, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015, at an Abilene Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin, with burial following at the Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born June 8, 1942, at Flat Top, Ronnie was the son of the late Delmer and Faye (Haught) Hill. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1960 and served in the United States Navy. Ronnie married the love of his life Emma Marie Branch on October 29, 1966, in Hamlin. Ronnie was well respected in Jones County where he worked with the Hamlin Police Department for over 25 years, serving as the Chief of Police for 17 years. He was awarded Officer of the Year in 1995. Ronnie was a true outdoorsman's, he enjoyed going fishing, hunting and shooting. Ronnie was a member of the Hamlin Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years, the Jones County Law Enforcement Association, Hamlin VFW and the First Baptist Church.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Hill of Hamlin; his son, Allan Hill of Hamlin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Gene Greenway, and Donnelle and Bennie Sayger all of Abilene; four nephews; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
