Hamlin-Ruth Ester (Hunter) Brown, passed away April 12, 2020, in Hamlin. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 16, 2020, in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Due to current circumstances a PRIVATE graveside service will be held on Thursday, in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. Even though the family cannot welcome you at the graveside service, they sincerely appreciate your thoughts and prayers. To acknowledge the friends and family that Ruth was blessed with, the family requests your appearance in a parked parade style procession to officially send Ruth on to her eternal resting place. The funeral procession will drive by the family home and the Eastside Church of Christ to allow friends and family (safely within or near their vehicles) to be "received". The family will depart Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home at 12:30. (for safety reasons please DO NOT park on Hwy 92.)
Ruth was the daughter of the late Jimmy and Sylvia (Davis) Hunter. She married the love of her life William J. Brown on December 17, 1954, in Anson. Ruth worked as an CNA for the Holiday Lodge Nursing Home in Hamlin for 29 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, going fishing and sewing. But one thing the whole family agreed on was her cooking. (Meatloaf, Sweet-potato Pie and all the fixings).
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (WC Hunter and John T Hunter) and one sister (Minnie Lee).
Survivors include her husband William Brown; six daughters, Ester Johnson (Leonard), Hazel Brown Holloway, May Green, Pauline Smith (Garny), Tabitha Mullings, and Denice Boykin (Dyrron); four sons, William Brown (Barbara), Charles Brown, Ronald Brown (Darlene), and Stephen Brown (Janice); one brother Willie Hunter; one sister, Erma Mayes; two brothers-in-laws, Howard Brown and Charles Brown; sisters-in-laws, Minnie Robinson and Jo Ann Elix; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you for all the calls, food, cards, prayers and many other acts of kindness showed to the family at this time.
