Ruth Contreras Gonzales, aged 81, of Stephenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 8, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth. She was born on May 15, 1943, in Hamlin, Texas, to Rachel and Trine, Sr. Contreras (both deceased).
A woman of great strength, independence, and determination, Ruth was known for her unwavering spirit and her ability to live life with grit. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and resilience.
Ruth was a woman who was full of joy and laughter. Many fond memories from her family are remembering how she loved to laugh. She truly lived by the motto “Don’t worry – Be happy.”
Ruth was a devoted mother to her children and grandmother to her grandchildren. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and further blessed with two great-grandchildren, whom she loved ALL deeply. Cindy Contreras, her niece, and Paul Benevides (Alan Sipes), her nephew, were also like her children. They brought joy to her heart when they came to visit her and traveled with her.
Her children loved to spoil her by taking her on cruises and family vacations. Ruth enjoyed her time by making memories and being with her family. Her family and traveling were her two biggest passions. When traveling with her children and grandchildren, she could be found doing the latest “Tik Tok” trends with her grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Contreras; her father, Trinidad [Trine] Contreras, Sr.; her brothers: Trine Contreras, Jr. and Donald Contreras; her sister-in-law, Linda Contreras; her brother-in-law, Willie Carrillo; and her nephew, Larry Contreras. She is survived by her daughters Helen Hazzard (Robert Pack) and Paula Gonzales, and her son Marty Contreras. Her grandchildren Rachel Hazzard; Tristan Wegner, Andrew Contreras; Jacolby Hazzard; Camryn Contreras (Kolby Shields); Caleb [CJ] Contreras; Madison Contreras; and Kent Lauren (Sean). Her greatgrandchildren Matthew and Zachary Lauren. Her brothers David Contreras (Isabel); Danny Contreras (Ruth Ann); Andy Contreras; and Steve Contreras (Vicki).
