Born September 6, 1950, in Hamlin, Texas, Shirl was the son of C.L. and Lillian Fay (Spalding) Warner. He married Virginia Hamilton on May 5, 1990, in Hamlin. A lifelong resident of Jones County, Shirl managed Pied Piper Pet & Wildlife for thirty-nine years. In his spare time, Shirl enjoyed fishing, tinkering, and welding. A jack-of-all-trades, he could fix anything from carpentry to plumbing.
Shirl is preceded in death by his parents, C.L. and Lillian Fay Warner, and his brothers, Ronnie Boyd and Chuck Warner.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Virginia Warner; three daughters, Linda Nieto and husband, Mark, of Raymondville, Sheri Durgin and husband, Steve, of Hamlin, and Tammy Hamilton of Hamlin; one brother, Larry Warner and wife, Janice, of Oklahoma; one sister, Eudora Coleman and husband, Martin Dale, of Breckenridge; seven grandchildren, Josh Durgin, Nathan Durgin, Katelyn Durgin, Jared Durgin, Emily Durgin, Anthony Nieto, and Casey Nieto; and one great-grandchild, Brieder Nieto.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Jones County Relay for Life, 3402 N. First St. Suite 102 Abilene, TX 79603.
