Tricia Byerly

Tricia Denise Kiser Byerly passed away September 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.  She was born on September 12, 1967, in Hamlin, Texas, to James Robert and Velta Lois Kiser.  Tricia was a graduate of Hamlin High School.  She married David Glen Byerly on June 20, 1987, at the First United Methodist Church in Hamlin. Their 35-year adventure took them across Texas, Illinois, and Arkansas.  Tricia returned to Hamlin in 2014 where she and Dave operated their consulting business and traveled. Tricia was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene, Texas.

All who knew her can testify that Tricia Byerly found her life purpose in loving and supporting her family, especially her five grandchildren. She enjoyed early morning coffees with her husband, and late-night milkshakes with her children. Tricia was always known for being a loving-smiling face and would help anyone in need. She became a second mom to countless numbers of young people over the years.  Tricia had an adventurous spirit with her love of nature, backpacking, kayaking, and sailing.

In July 2022 Tricia Byerly received the diagnosis of Sporadic Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (CJD). It was Tricia’s wish that her final days were spent building memories with her grandchildren and family.

Tricia is survived by her husband, David Byerly; one daughter, Sarah Byerly Moore and husband Christopher; one son, Jacob Cooper Byerly and wife Dallas; her parents, James and Velta Kiser; one sister, Melisa Kiser Lee and husband Bobby; one brother, James Robert Kiser II and wife Heather; and five grandchildren: Annabelle Rae Byerly, Wade David Moore, Betsy Mae Byerly, Benjamin Exum Byerly and Dorothy Denise Byerly.

There will be celebration of her life in Abilene, Texas on Monday, September 19, 2022, at The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, we ask all that are so moved to make a donation in her memory to the cjdfoundation.org.
