Winnie Rodgers, 85, of Hamlin passed away November 8, 2018 in Hamlin. Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm, Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin. Burial will follow in Neinda Cemetery.
Winnie Mae Gruben Rodgers was born on March 17, 1933, in Rotan, to Willie and Cleatie Gruben. She is a Rotan High School graduate, class of 1950, and attended Draughan's Business College in Abilene. Winnie met James Rodgers and the couple exchanged vows on November 9, 1952. They shared 56 wonderful years together until James' death in November of 2008. Winnie worked as a secretary in the accounting business that she and James owned. Winnie was a devoted believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She maintained a membership with the First Baptist Church of Hamlin from 1961 until she was called home Thursday night. Winnie enjoyed attending church and spending as much time with her grandchildren and family as she could. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Winnie will be dearly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
Winnie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.
Winnie is survived by her children, Richard Rodgers (Sharon) and Gerald Rodgers (Paula); grandchildren,
Lauri Pond (Matt), Mallory Meredith (Matt), Jennifer Poehls (Brandon), Kari Nichols (Scotty), Jaylen Burtch (Jacob), Chelsea Hastings (Justin), Morgan Meeks (Landon), and Whitney Rodgers (fiancé Kyle); great-grandchildren, Skyler Pond, Easton Nichols, Tinley Pond, Hannah Poehls, Baylor Nichols, McKenna Meredith, Caroline Poehls, Canyon Nichols and Creede Nichols; and siblings, Wanda Gruben George, Margaret Gruben Watkins (George) and Kenneth Gruben (Sandra).
The family has requested that any memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamlin, in Winnie's name.
